Change Screen Resolution

One of the most common problems with DirectX DirectX is a application programming interface created by Microsoft. DirectX allows programmers to make a game that will work on any windows computer without having to know about the specific hardware that is in the computer. EA Games require that the correct version of DirectX be installed on the computer, usually the latest version available. DirectX requires that video and sound drivers that match the version being used are also installed on the computer. games is mode switching. When a DirectX game starts, DirectX tells the video driver to switch modes to match the resolution and color depth supported by the game. Some drivers will have a problem with this mode switching and yield a crash, error, or blank screen lockup. If you are having any difficulty starting your game try manually switching video modes.

To manually adjust your video mode:

1. Open your Windows Control Panel and open Display Properties.

2. Click on the Settings tab at the upper right of the window.

3. Now adjust the Color quality option to 16 bit colors and the Desktop area to 800x600 pixels (or whichever mode your game needs).

NOTE: Make sure that if your game supports other video modes, that you manually set your desktop to the modes supported by the game if needed.
